British Citizenship Test

The Life in the UK Test is designed to achieve two things. Firstly the Government wants anyone who is to settle in the United Kingdom to be able to communicate to a reasonable standard. It has therefore, written the handbook, Life in the UK , A Journey to Citizenship in such a way that anyone reading it and understanding it, will be able to demonstrate a required standard. This standard is ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Entry Level 3. You will need this level of English to understand the book and to answer the UK Citizenship Test questions.

Secondly, the content of the handbook covers a wide range of subjects all chosen to increase the awareness and knowledge of this vibrant and diverse country we live in. It highlights important historical events, cultural events, social occasions, traditions, trends and fashions. It also gives a huge amount of information on how the country works including government, both local and national, institutions, finance and social services.

Once you are certain that you know and understand the content of the handbook, it is time to take the Test. By calling the freeline, national number, you can book the English Citizenship Test at the current price of £50. You will be given an appointment to attend a local test centre and instructions of what documentation will be required. Be careful to bring everything that is asked for, failure to do so will result in you not being able to sit the Test and your fee forfeited.

The British Citizenship Test itself is made up of 24 multiple choice questions that are presented on a computer. You will have to answer these questions within a maximum time period of 1 hour. In order to pass you must answer, within the time limit, at least 18 questions (75%) correctly

There are several questions that are difficult and possibly, inaccurate. When you sign up for the course, you will get details of these questions on the website
